Most of these works are from college, particularly final essays and presentations. I mainly took sociology, politics, and legal studies classes, which you can see reflected here. These works demonstrate my personal passions and academic interests, but also my growth as a writer and thinker (hopefully).
In my senior fall, I interned at Citizens for Juvenile Justice. In order to receive academic credit, I had to take an “internship course” and conduct a research project on a topic related to my internship. I wrote about girls in the juvenile justice system. Here is the summarized powerpoint presentation version.
This is the full research paper, if you want to learn more.
In summer 2024, I interned at Asian American Federation. As an intern, I conduct a research project on an AAPI policy issue of my choice. I researched Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders in New York City, and how pan-Asian organizations like AAF can include these communities in their advocacy.
In my junior year, I took a course called Sociology of Reproduction. It was one of my favorite college classes. For the final, I wrote a research paper on women’s health in carceral spaces, with a particular focus on pregnant incarcerated women.
